French Army Light Aviation to receive six more NH90s

France has ordered six more NHIndustries NH90 Caïman tactical transport helicopters (TTH), it was announced on 7 January.
The order will increase the number of NH90s ordered to replace the French Army Light Aviation's (ALAT's) ageing Pumas to 74. The increase in NH90 numbers was included as part of a modification to the French defence programming law (LPM) set out in April 2015.
The ALAT currently operates 17 NH90 TTHs, while the French Navy operates 27 of the navalised NH90 NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) variant. By the end of 2019 the ALAT should have 44 NH90 TTHs in service.
