Chinese and Indian navy war ships reach Sri Lanka for friendly exercises

Three Chinese and two Indian naval ships have reached the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Chinese ships reached the port on a goodwill visit, while Indian ships are visiting for training purposes.
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has welcomed three People's Liberation Army-Navy (PLAN) ships, including Liuzhohu, Sanya and Qinghaihu.
Chinese naval ships will participate in a friendly soccer and basketball match with the SLN craft at Welisara navy base.

The ships will also be involved in the passage exercise with the SLN craft to exchange professional expertise between the two navies, before their departure on 21 January.
The Indian Navy's training ships, along with a selected group of officers and sailors, arrived in Sri Lanka to provide onboard training for the SLN personnel.
The crew of Indian ships will take part in a series of training programmes conducted by the SLN.
The SLN expects the combined training modules to enhance the knowledge of both navies and improve mutual relationships and cooperation.
